Hello, this is my first computer build and i think i might have broken my GPU and/ or motherboard.
My component list is as follows:

  • Carbide Series® SPEC-ALPHA Mid-Tower Gaming Case
    MSI Z170A GAMING M7 Motherboard
    Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz C16 Memory Kit
Samsung 850 EVO 500GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD
    Intel Core™ i7-6700K Processor
ASUS ROG Strix GeForce® GTX 1080
    Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
CX Series CX650M — 650 Watt 80 PLUS Bronze Certified Modular ATX PSU
I placed and connected all the components as needed, and when I turned on the computer to see if it worked the monitor said to plug in the PCI power to the graphic card. At this point all the components were working, everything was turned on. And then I connected a power connector, that i thought was the right one and when i turned the power on i saw a short spark come out from where I plugged in the power connector and after that no component would turn on and there is a red blinking light near the cmos battery and the pci e slots. I already tested the psu and it worked and I reset the cmos and still nothing changed. So now im wondering if my motherboard and/or gpu are completely broken now, and if anything else is broken. Any help would be appreciated.
