I remember a few months back I did not have compressed air so I used a microfiber cloth to clean my fans and some dusty parts of my laptop interior. (Don't worry I have compressed air now.)

I had used a microfiber cloth to go over this component here: https://prnt.sc/1tlanrl

My laptop still works fine but I remember going over the small metal pieces and wasn't sure if I had potentially damaged whatever the component was.

Can anyone tell me what that part is and what the metal pieces are for? If I lightly brushed it with a microfiber cloth likely no damage was caused?

Looks like chipset.
Cpu and gpu can look similar, but those will have a heatsink attached to them.
I see, I know the chip beside it is for I/O. It is definitely not the CPU or GPU, I have a heatsink for them.

Do you know what the metal pieces are for and what kind of chip it is specifically?

If it's working fine, then you did not damage it. If it's working fine but something caused a small crack that will crash the system in a few months or years, there is no way to tell so you may as well assume that did not happen.
