I'm going to be building my first PC pretty soon, it's going to be used as a general use computer. School, web browsing etc. and gaming. My #1 question is should I go with this APU build and upgrade it in the future with a discrete GPU or go with a CPU based build? My budget is $600 max including Windows 8.1 which I get discounted as a student.
This is what I've come up with so far (Keyboard and mouse combo isn't really needed). http://pcpartpicker.com/user/nathanp666/saved/cqjRsY

Thanks! I'm really leaning towards the APU build but wouldn't putting DDR3-2133 memory in this system greatly improve the iGPU's performance? I'm willing to pay the extra like $7 for that. Such as this set of G.Skill memory. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-memory-f32133c10d8gxm

Look, a higher freq RAM is better but if your system will use it's full power so there is the deal : if you will OC the ram's and the CPU go with that new one, and if you will OC the CPU only get an 1866MHz or 1600MHz that doesn't matter but the matter is the clock's latency more it's lower more that "better" .
BTW if the 7$ will not make a problem with you GO AHEAD 😀
