hi :hello:

If you will use that pc just for gaming and dayly use DDR2-800 is enough there is no reason to buy a ddr2 1066, from the ones that you choosed i will pick the mushkin or the corsair.
since you are going vista 4gb is a must :)

I have some recomendations :) , this is the way I think, but it is up to you
1-Asus Maximus Formula is not worth the money since it doesn't support SLI, at this point a p35 is a better idea, you loose the second pci-e 16x slot but as i said you won't need it if you go with nvidia GPU's
2-Pc power&cooling silencer 750w is more than enough power, it has better eficiency (you will save in the electricity bill) and it solid as a rock
3-Raptors are not a PLUS anymore, they are a bit faster than any 7200rpm HD but some of the newer HD are almost as fast and they give you more space, at Tomshardware there are diferent comparesions, i would recomend a samsung t166 500gb
4-since you are going Penryn the next year there is no reason to go with a quad core right now, at the moment any game is optimized for 4 cores, crysis is supoosed to be but who nows, a e6750 with a good oc is more than enough right now
5-NICE monitor I really like it:)

Hope it helps
and sorry for bad english 🙁

Hello everyone, I am working on building a computer and I wish to seek some guidance from all the guru’s out there.
Here’s what my system looks like so far:

Asus Maximus Formula

Antec TPQ-1000 1000watt TruePower Quattro Power Supply

Western Digital Raptor X Sata (WD1500AHFD) 150gb 10,000RPM 16MB Buffer

Windows VISTA 64-bit Ultimate

Samsung 226BW 22” Monitor

Video Card – I’ll be stepping up to the 9800 GTX video cards when they come out sometimes in mid November..

Intel Quad Core Q6600 (HOWEVER, I will be upgrading to the 45nm processors early next year)

Optical drives and minor things aren’t that important right now…

So my main concern is Memory…

My price range is around 450-500 Canadian..
I’ve looked at the following memory kits and I was wondering if anyone can help me decided which one will give me the best OVERALL performance. I’m not an expert overclocker but I will be doing some minor tweaking… I’m looking for a total of 4GB DDR2-1066

My system is mainly for FPS games such as CoD4, Quake 4, Counter-Strike and possible Crysis in the future.

Option 1 - Corsair XMS2 Dominator TWIN2X2048-8500C5D 2GB 2X1GB PC8500 DD2-1066 CL 5-5-5-15-2T 240PIN Dual Channel Memory (x2 for a total of 4GB)

Option2 - Mushkin XP2-8500 DDR2-1066 2x1GB Extreme Performance Series CAS 5-5-4-12 (x2 = 4GB)

Option 3 - OCZ (OCZ2RPR1066A2GK) DDR2 PC2-8500 1066MHz Reaper HPC CrossFire Certified Edition 2GB (2x1024MB) Dual Channel Kit (x2 for 4GB)

Thank you in advance for your kind help =) I look forward to reading comments/suggestions :)

With that budget, who gives a bleep?

But buy two of the three options just in case. I've gone through multiple sets of ram thanks to picky 965 and p35 mobos, so take Zorg's advice and go for compatability.
