Hi, I am a week away from building my ultimate gaming rig !

Please help me decide which single unit graphics card should I opt for (price not a factor) which can keep me immersed in gaming for the next 2-3 years on games like BF4/COD Ghosts/Crysis 3 etc etc.

or should I look at a SLI/Crossfire option?

Note: I use a single Samsung 54 cms LCD Monitor which runs on 1920x1080 resolution.

This is the same as the last build with added Corsair Gaming Keyboard and mouse

I kinda have my heart set on the EVGA Geforce GTX 780ti KINGPIN Classified edition.. but open to other options as well.. I am not an experienced overclocker but would like to keep all options open in furure hence the above mentioned one is my primary choice.

If I go for a dual SLI with the GTX 780ti KINGPIN classified, will it give me a better experience on fps n stuff on the monitor I mentioned ??

another one- if the new GTX 800 series is getting launched within a month or so, will the prices of 700 series drop ? hell I can afford twO GTX 780tis now, but looking from a different point of view as well 🙂

Kingpin is only good if you ln2 cool, for air cooling get the evga dual classified, it's cheaper but offers the same really, to get the kingoin would be buying a f1 car to go to the shops, you can brag, but it will never reach its true potential, get a dual classified instead and yes the 700 series price will drop

thank you for the prompt responses LEGEND !! Admittedly, I am a noob regarding the new techs. I will go for Corsair water cooling on the CPU (think the LN cooling is very very expensive and meant for the pros at achieving records). Have yet to decide on either i5k or i7k with the ASUS MAXIMUS Formula Mobo or as I see swansongs often about the ASROCK Z97 series.. 16GB Corsair Dominatior Platinum 2400 (4*4/2*8).. Corsair AX1200i PSU.. and a lot of air cooling on the case. I might also exchange my old LCD with the new 4k displays but it will always be a single display screen at highest resolutions. Any ideas about the configuration or if you have better choices.. ?

So as far as I can tell this build will be:

i5 4690k/i7 4790k
Corsair H Series AIO cooler (e.g. H100i)
ASUS Maximus vii Formula/ASRock Z97
16GB Corsair Dominator Platinum
EVGA Classified GTX 780ti
Corsair AX1200i

Is this correct?

If so, and you are only gaming, as above drop to 8GB ram, get the i5 4690k, overclock it with that cooling system and motherboard (both are good, just make sure the ASRock is approved for SLi), and you should be good to go :)

This. The ASUS Z97 Sabertooth is my dream motherboard (not gonna lie) for a few reasons, it's ASUS so the build quality is second to none, the TUF armour is amazing, and its has a RIGHT ANGLED USB3.0 HEADER. These USB 3 headers annoy me so much when they're pointing upwards...

very nice :) I'm gonna stick with my awful motherboard for now (ASUS mATX H61 board, it works as I have a non-K CPU) but when I eventually get a new CPU, probably Broadwell or whatever comes after that, I will be getting a K series chip with an OC'ing motherboard, so hopefully ASUS's Sabertooth line sticks around until then

guys, you all are very much more experienced than me.. that's for sure.. I have a budget of about 3000-3333 $.. please make a configuration with a-z components required to build from scratch as per your views.. and please, EVGA Geforce 780ti classified dual SLI is a must ! thanks a ton guys !!

How about this as a starting point?

To be honest though, on a single 1920x1080 monitor this is WAY overkill. A single 780ti would easily suffice

the rig is gonna be only for gaming n household multimedia purposes.. but 99% for gaming alone. and dusn't matter if it's an i5k or i7k (hyperthreading n as much as I know they don't help in gaming maybe 2-5 fps more).. highest resolution on a 4k display.. what would you go for if u had to build a rig around a budget of not less than 3000 $

I'd build what I posted 4 posts up, but like I say a single 780ti is borderline overkill for a single 1920x1080 monitor, let alone 2 in SLi.

If you really want SLi though, then the rig I posted is $2900. With the extra $400 you specified as the max for your budget, you could get a nice 1440p monitor (maybe even 1600p) from newegg. Logan from Tek Syndicate is a big advocate for the Korean monitors they sell, so check out his review of them :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rQtubyNCQA&list=UUNovoA9w0KnxyDP5bGrOYzg

yes.. the 3000$ (3333$ max) budget has to include everything like a gaming keyboard n mouse.. except the 4k display which I will upgrade later when the prices drop a bit.. sorry for the confusion :-(

You might be better served only getting one 780ti now, and buying the other when you get the 4k monitor. I'm guessing the 4k monitor upgrade is at least a few months away if not more, so the price of the 780ti should have dropped by then

yes.. the 4k display will be an upgrade in 2/3/4 months time.. Color scheme dusn't matter.. I will me waiting for your build config guys.. no problem when u find some time.. I have a general question also.. how much fps would a single 780ti classified give and a dual SLI 780ti classified give on a single 4k display.. will it vary much or SLI is advisable for other performance boosts as well other than fps ?
