So I have been having some computer problems from time to time when it comes to gaming and I believe I have narrowed down the possibility of it being a power supply problem. The thing is though I dont know much about hardware and I want someone to double check what I have put into this site: http://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator. heres the details and let me know if you come to the same conclusion of what I should do.

Motherboard: desktop

CPU: amd socket AM3+ AMD FX-4300 380 MHz VISHERA

memory: 2 4gb ddr3 module

Video card: Nvidia geforce GTX 750 ti

storage: SATA 7200 RPM

Optical Drivers: DVD-RW/DVD+RW Drive

Current power supply:atx-xg500w 12v

heres a link to where i purchased my computer (minus the change to the video card addition) http://www.amazon.com/CyberpowerPC-Gamer-Ultra-GUA880-Desktop/dp/B0089KDCIU/ref=sr_1_3?m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1416950963&sr=1-3

Thank you in advance for your help.

What kind of problems are you having?

The 750ti uses no power, unless you're overclocking your 4300. A 300-350w PSU will do.

Of course, they didn't specify the make of the PSU. Probably a terrible one, so failure is likely. With any premade systems, they usually cheap on the the PSU and the mobo.

What kind of problems are you having?

In short, for some reason unknown when playing a game well within my abilities to, say the MOBA smite, the screen will just go dark out of no where. At first I thought it was the video card, but i ruled it out because it is only a year old. After that I looked at my heat sink on my CPU. Figured it was going bad so i got it switched out just today and had the same problem. So I am down to it being either the power supply or the video card. Thoughts?

you can run stability tests to check each component.

do you have any personal recommendations on what I should use? going to search now in the mean time

thank you for your help. ill do the stress test and see what comes up.

Update: so i did all the tests and nothing seems to be wrong, but i dont know if I tested the power supply. beyond that could it be the air flow in the case itself?
