HP Omen upgrade

Hello,
I am new to PC building and wanted to upgrade my HP Omen 870-224. It currently has a Nvidia GTX 1060 3GB, i5-7400, 500w power supply, Odense2-K motherboard,and 8gb of ram. I would like to upgrade the GPU to a Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti, and the CPU to a i7-8700k. I know that I would need a 600w or higher power supply, but I don't know if I would need a new motherboard. Also, would it be a bad idea to try and put the parts in a different case, because I don't know if a 1070 Ti would fit in the case that it comes with.

Not on the CPU side, you will need new H/B/Z 3xx series motherboard to support coffee lake
can you post a picture of your psu label? It says 500W but 12V rail may produce less.
