need help installing 3Dconnexion spaceball 5000 on Win98SE computer

I am attempting to install my 3Dconnexion Spaceball 5000 onto my Windows 98SE computer. I was on their website but the oldest driver I could find said it supported only down to Windows XP. Even so, I tried it anyway, and got somewhat far until the program terminated. The installer said that it could not find the ISHelper library. I am not sure what this is, can anyone help me out here?

It states here (http://spacemice.org/pdf/SpaceBall_5000_C.pdf) that the drivers support as far back as Windows 98, but only in the case of the device using a serial connection. If it is a USB connected peripheral, then, it goes as far back as Windows 2000.

Guess I'll either have to track down the serial version or use it with a new machine. Thanks.
