Need help installing a GTX 980

My exact card is an EVGA GTX 980 SC with ACX 2.0 cooling.

There are two connections on the card for 6-pin cables. Do I plug in 2 PCI-E cables (with 6+2 pin connectors, ignoring the +2) from my modular power supply into this one card?

The card came with two PSU adapters that are just 6-pin. I don't have to use these do I? As I said, my power supply has 6+2 pin connectors. I don't have to plug in that extra 2 pins do I?

Just need some clarification. Thanks!

You use the 2 PCI-E cables from your power supply, and ignore the +2.

6+2 pins are meant to be work with both 6pin and 8pin graphic cards.
