if the hp has a good cpu in it you did not list the cpu then i would remove the two gig ram dimm and replace it with 4g stick. 8g is the right size ram for a gaming pc. the other draw back is the power supply and gpu of the pc. you need a better then the stock unit to put in a 950 or 960 an an entry level gaming card. depending on how you game and the games you play you may need a higher end gpu.

that alright. then no laptops are not a good gaming device. the video card on most laptops cant be replaced there part of the laptop system board. also they get real hot when you game with them..some laptop need cooling pads to game. your better off waiting for black friday/cyber monday and pick up a small desktop pc and toss in a new larger power supply and gpu. if your lucky keep an eye out on newegg dyi and other places on the net. sign up for dell and hp emails so if they have a blow out sale you can pick up a new unit for cheap. entry level gaming pc would be an i3 and 8g of ram. if you lucky there might be some i5 that will be sold at blow out prices.
