Need help, just bought new gpu (gigabyte gtx970) and only black screen with white underscore appears

Works fine with my old amd radeon 5830 HD gpu, but when i switch in gtx970 gpu it just shows black screen with blinking white underscore (keyboard doesnt work). Motherboard i have now is ASUS cm6730... ...please help!

Wattage on your power supply? And did you connect the 6 pin and 8 pin connectors to it?

Rated wattage is a meaningless value and plays no role. 😉

did u check your PSU to make sure it is supplying the correct amount of amps per the 12 volt rails asso check to make sure that if any extra gpu power plugs .e. 6 pin or 8pin are plugged in

also keep in mind the 5830 draws less power then the 970

Did you swap out all the graphics drivers before changing the cards? This is very important and it might be best to just reinstall Windows whenever changing hardware.
