Hey, so i have a pc and it’s pretty good at handling games. it can run most games at decent settings. I have an AMD Fx-6300 processor machine with a Radeon RX 560 graphics card. and i was wondering if i would be able to upgrade to a GTX 1060 or 1070 to get better graphics and frames for editing and gaming. I was wondering if i could just pop it in there or do i have to get a different processor, motherboard, fans, etc. Please let me know as i wanna get one for black friday to get an even better deal since they are currently sitting at about 300 bucks. Also, please let me know how i can do it. send a video on what i have to do or just let me know step-by-step. thanks.

You don't need to change your CPU to upgrade your GPU. What wattage is your power supply?

What monitor do you have?
If you've got a 1080p 60Hz monitor, I'd recommend just getting a GTX1060 6GB. They're currently around $230, so they might get close to $200 next week.

Actually, dont go higher than a gtx 1050/1050ti with that CPU, it will and it gonna bottleneck any better GPU. And if you go with GTX 1050 you dont need to upgrade your PSU. Probably.

I was really tired. And I actually don't think he should pair a 580 (yeah I read all of the first sentence wrong) or, 1070 with that CPU.

You are right, but that CPU that he uses is really bad. I used one myself. But sure you are right it will be improvement but not that much that it could justify a 580 or 1060/70 paired with that CPU, but if he gonna upgrade mobo and cpu later on, why not.

There's no doubt in my mind that the FX-6300 is a turd and that upgrading the CPU+mobo+RAM would yield improvements. The way the OP phrased the thread made it sound like perhaps the ~$300 budget was going to be difficult to stretch to $600-$700 or that perhaps the OP wasn't experienced enough to do a complete scratch build.
I would echo everyone else's comments here that the CPU+mobo+RAM upgrade should be kept on the table for the near future.
