need help looking at what would be the best graphics cards for my motherboard.

I got my computer as a birthday present and I mainly use it to play games, I don't mind played with lower settings to get a decent fps however playing things like gta are almost impossible with bugs and breakages so often. This is most likely down to the fact I have an apu and no gpu. However I don't know a thing about mother boards and am not sure what graphics card could fit which slot or whatever as well as there being 3 different slots. I have an Asus F2A55-M LK2 motherboard. Im not sure whether it would be worth investing in a new motherboard as well or not dependant on how big the improvement would be with the graphics card

Your motherboard is pretty decent one, has a PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot. It can handle any PCI Express 3.0 GPUs. The PCI Express 3.0 GPUs will work fine on 2.0 slots, as they're backward compatible.

Your MB has only one pice2.0X16 ( long dark blue) slot, middle shot one is the pci, other long one is PCIe 2.0 x1 ( light blue). You need install the discrete GPU into the pcie2.0X16, because you had the apu, which comes with the amd GPU. And all the pice3.0X16 GPU will backward compatible the pcie2.0X16 slot.

If you want to play gta5, you need one GPU at least gtx660 at 1920x1080 in normal textures and FXAA with MSAA disabled, check the games review. You need at least 40fps in theory to play the game. So it depends on what is your apu, budget, etc. I recommend to buy one best GPU you can afford. When you buy the GPU, make sure you have one good PSU for the new GPU. PSU requirement for GPU http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page362.htm and make sure don't cut corner on the PSU too.
