Question Need help! Low FPS on a high end PC ?

I recently build a new gaming pc.

It has a titan x pascal
core i7
windows 10
12 gb ram
1200 wat power supply
asus 1920x1080 monitor
2 tb hdd

I play watch dogs legion on lowest settings and it struggles to even reach 54 fps on 1080p
the division 2 is the same as when im using the benchmark on lowest settings it goes to 45fps and sometimes 35 fps
i have been looking around on forums but when i do the solution it doesn't work and continues for me to lag

can someone please help me as this is my last resort because i am all out of hope now

titan x pascal was released in 2016 in between the GTX 1080 and GTX 1080Ti, performance wise it trades blows around the RTX 2070 super/ RTX 2080.

What exact Core i7 do you have, if bought around the same time as the card (2016) it would be a socket 1150 i7 6700/6700k or socket 2011-v3 i7 6800k, 6850k, 6900k, or 6950k?

For 12GB of ram i would guess you're running a 4GB stick and 8GB stick, what motherboard do you have? Does it support this combination? if not you might be running in a single channel mode, or a hybrid dual single. I would recommend getting a new KIT that is 2x 8GB

Do you have a SSD? or is everything running off the 2TB hdd. I would pick up a 250GB minimum and reinstall the OS on that, you will not be able to clone just the OS off the 2TB drive.

Your I7-950 is woefully underpowered.
It has 8 threads and a rating of 3090. That is when all 8 threads are fully utilized.
Not a common occurence in gaming.
The single thread rating is 1391.
Just for comparison sake, a modern $100 i3-10100 has the same 8 threads, but a rating of 8949/2648.
Add $75 for a lga1200 motherboard and $65 for 16gb of ddr4 ram and you would have a much better gamer.

Geofelt is right, if you have the money it would be time to upgrade, Kind of suck that you say you recently bought it.

I ran the i7 950 with the Asus R3E when they first came out in 2009. Ran a full waterblock on CPU and Motherboard and hit 4.7Ghz all day and in winter 4.9Ghz. I later replaced the 950 with a 980x but only managed 4.2Ghz but it gave me 2 extra cores and 4 threads. I ran it at work up until early this year when i replaced it with an AMD 3600x.

That computer went through a lot, dual GTX 460, 480, 580. It sat on the shelf for a few years then made its return as a work computer with quad GTX 670's and ended its working life with triple GTX 780 TI classiffied's. Its now sitting in my server rack at home as a storage server with 10TB of space.


The best you could do for it right now is install a SSD drive for the OS, which if you get a new computer you can move it over to that.

yes got a whole new pc and put the titan in that now i am getting smooth fps on every game thanks man
