Need Help MacAffee Enterprise 8.0i slows me down

XP Home
MCE 2005
P4 3.2 G HT 800 FSB

I am currently running the free Norton Internet Security that comes w/ all new machines, I tried to install MacAffee last night, when it was doing the update to get a file dat-4xxx.zip it failed, not only did it fail, after it stop running and installing after 2 hours, my machine was like I was on a 433.....

I like MacAffee b/c that is really what I was used to running, I just installed the Norton to see if I wanted to use it.....

Did you uninstall Norton before installing McAfee?

After installing McAfee, instead of doing autoupdate, you might want to download the first package for updates then use the autoupdate after that.

And you could try disabling on access scan on everything. Do periodic scans instead.

Did not do an unistall... however I did deactivate it....

Uninstall McAfee, Restart. Uninstall Norton, Restart, install McAfee.. you should see a difference.
