Hi all,
Since yesterday when I power on my system the processor fan spins and stops and few seconds later it spins and stops and few seconds later it start spinning...moreover the led lights in the cpu cabinet which lit when power on is off now. I tried restarting without RAM and VGA card to hear any beep sound but there seems to be no beep sound and also the led light is still off.

Any help/suggestion would be appreciated...

Thanks

Sounds very much like a problem with the power supply. What is the brand and model of your power supply and do you have any idea how old it is?

You can test the power supply using the following steps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ac7YMUcMjbw

Or substitute a known good PSU of good quality, not a cheap ass one (And by cheap I don't just mean low wattage, I mean cheap quality) to see if the problem resolves itself.
It's possible you don't have a system speaker installed. Pull the side cover off and look at the board to determine if there is one integrated to the board or if there is one attached to it via wires. Sometimes they get removed or are not included with cheaper models.

That aside, if there IS known to be one, and the system does not present beep codes or led flashes with both the RAM and the GPU removed, either the board is faulty or the PSU has an issue.

This doesn't seem to be a new build, so that probably doesn't apply. Very rarely do any of those steps lead anywhere when dealing with a system that stopped working after operating normally for a prolonged period of time. But it's always good to check the basics.

If you're system is plugged into a power strip, I'd ditch that right away and plug into the wall. Sometimes a crappy power strip can wreak all kinds of havoc with the psu and system.

yes you maybe right but re-seating and cleaning the components individually might help it.

hi the steps mentioned are the first one's i did and my system specs
INTEL DH61WW
Intel Core i5-2300 CPU @ 2.80GHz
RAM 2GB
250 GB HDD

i tried cleaning and reseating the components individually..it doesn't seems to solve the problem.. :??:
