Need help no signal on new monitor

I just bought a brand new msi monitor and I set it all up in place of my old monitor and it and my pc will power up fine but I am getting a no signal popup on the screen then the screen goes blank.

Please help me in any ways what this is I tried restarting unplugging everything it worked just fine with my old monitor. They did screw me over and in the box I didn't get a new dvi cable so I used the one from my old monitor the cable that has 2 white ends that you twist the sides thanks for any help.

on your pc if it has onboard video and a gpu try both ports..see if the pc has swapped main video ports. if the new monitor has hdmi inputs try a gaming unit...dvd or cable box to see if it comes on.

Edit: I found the problem lol. My display was connected to my mobo and not my gpu. Should I still use HDMI with display or do I only need one?
