I have a dell dimension 4700 p4 processor and called dell to upgrade the processor if I can they sold me an i3 and said I would half to have it programed into my system. I have a D915GOK motherboard with an LGA775 socket and found out it wont work I need to know if there is a board that will work in my case that don't cost too much

Well....an i3 will not fit that board, period. So you need a new motherboard. Along with the new motherboard, you need new RAM.

You might need a larger PSU, as that one is likely quite small, and certainly quite old.
Depending on what is in it now, you might need a new graphics card.

The Dell person that sold you the i3 saying it would work needs to be taken out back and shot.
