As the title states. I am a noob to Overclocking and need some help. Before setting my hyper x 2x8 16 gig ram to 1600 I was able to select the performance option in the bios to get my PhenomIIx4 965 BE up to 3.7 auto. I would liek to get my Cpu back in that range and keep my ram running at 1600. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Ive since had a light schooling in overclocking and have managed to get my Cpu running at 4091 mhz with a voltage of 1.37500.I Ran prime 95 yesterday for 15 hours on blend and it hadn't crashed or gotten an error with temps never exceeding 53 celcius so I consider it a success ?Though my idle temps may be a little highish 40-42 but I am guessing My temps would be lower than this also as of right now where I live we are having a heat wave and my A/C is out of order , So it's blistering hot in my room.

Just have another concern now in relation to Ram speeds. Since i got the cpu stable at 4091 mhz my cpu z has been showing nb frequency at 1870 mhz and my dram freq at 779 I hadn't done anything with the timings or as far as i know have not tried to get the dimms to run at at 1600 mhz ,but I am pretty sure the numbers have change there since the CPU OC. Is that normal or should I look into it ?

NB freq and HT link are both at 1870 mhz. I wasn't considering going to 1600 , I was just wondering if those numbers were normal for ram running at 1333?

Yep , I just went ahead and upped the CPU bus to 240 so the ram is running at 1600 and ever so slightly upped the vcore voltage. As far as i can see right now even with the cpu multiplyer left at 17.5 and the cpu clocked now at 4.2 its looking stable. 40 mins into prime 95 and using the browser to type this my temps have not exceeded 52 celcius.

Id be almost willing to wager this chip could handle a little more even with some more fine tuneage of the voltage. I haven't tried to go lower at all with it, I started in reverse from stock until I came down to these temp readings and didn't attempt to go any further down until the pc would no longer boot windows like some had suggested.
