Okay so I know this is a little bit of a challenge but I have $400 to $500 for a build (I'd obviously prefer to stay around $400 or a little over that). I have some parts in mind but I wanted to see if anyone could come up with better build. i don't care if the parts are brand new or anything but at least refurbished would be nice. This build will be used for gaming.

I do not need storage drives (Already have an ssd and hdd).

Thanks for any attempts you make :)

I don't need an OS or any peripherals.
I like to play GTA V, DayZ SA and Arma 3

Wouldn't I be better off going with AMD for CPU? I know they're not as good performance wise. I made this: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/sznMbj

Honestly I prefer more cores over the performance (I know that might be dumb sounding) but the first time around I build a pc I chose the fx-8350 and it worked great. The 4.0ghz base was fast enough for me and I should mention that I'm not going to overclock at all.

I don't really like the small form factor since I wouldn't really be able to upgrade much unless I upgraded everything :/

You can upgrade just as much, in a small form factor, depending on what you get. Granted that system had some limitations, but you could still make a pretty powerful rig, in smaller form factors.

As I'm always up for learning, and honestly not being an ass, I don't understand your reasoning.

OC is irrelevant as we are suggesting an i3.

True, being a small factor doesn't mean is less powerful.
Unless your planning to build SLI / CF , sound card, etc it's just as good with some minor limitations.

More cores and high clock speed mean nothing, if the cores are inefficiently slow. You will get more consistent results, from Intel, when it comes to gaming. The i3 6100 can match, and/or beat, any FX series CPU, in gaming. If you already have an FX 8350, why are you looking to build new anyway, if it was fast enough, for you?

My graphics card shorted out so I scraped the rest of the parts as I didn't have the money then to buy another GPU but now I've saved up and combined that with the money I got from selling the other pieces. But I also use the computer to stream/record and render videos/listen to music well gaming, the 8350 was great. Maybe it's just the name i3 throwing me off but I had a laptop with an i5 and it was terribly slow even out of the box. So when I built a computer I bought an AMD because my experience with Intel was awful (Intel cpu died in 2 laptops I had bought).

But yea that's why I'm trying to push the AMD Cpu instead of Intel even though I'm aware the Intel Cpus crush the performance of AMD.

You guys are telling me an i3 Dual-Core is gonna beat an AMD 6-core that's cheaper?

Your i5 was probably slow, due to the slow HDD, that laptops tend to have. Many laptops are equipped with 5400rpm drives. My i5 laptop had one, and it was slow. I threw a 500gb 850 evo into it, and it is much more responsive. Yes the i3 6100 will beat the FX 6300. You would need a healthy overclock, to match the gaming performance. By the time you spent enough to overclock an FX 6300, good enough to compete, you could buy a locked i5, with an H110/B150 board. An FX 6300 had to be clocked to FX 6350 speeds, just to beat a slower clocked 3rd gen i3. The i3 6100 is a fair amount faster, being 3 gens newer, and 400mhz faster clock. AMD has sat still, on CPU performance, while Intel keeps making incremental gains. Hopefully Zen will prove to be a great alternative.
