you are on the right track. storage should be on the platters however you will need to stick to small video files if you plan to edit them all on the SSD. i dont know what kind of editing you do but as for myself an average file size is anywhere from 650GB-1.5TB. how large are your files?

now this may not be what you want but im going to assign 200.00 price point PER HD.

stick them into raid-0, i run a 240GB C drive and come close to running out of space.
