Want to stay under $400
Would like to be able to do some gaming. Just need to get something for now and could upgrade later. All the specks could be in Greek it has been so long since I have paid any attention to them.
I am considering
Refurbished: HP Z240 Tower Gaming Desktop PC, Intel Quad Core i5-6500 up to 3.6GHz, 16G DDR4, 512G SSD, GPU GTX 750 Ti 4G GDDR5, 4K Support, WiFi, BT, HDMI, DVI, VGA, Win 10 Pro 64 En/Sp/Fr(Recertified) - Newegg.com

Amazon.com: AMD Quad Gaming Computer, Athlon X4 950 4x3.8GHz, 16GB DDR4, NVIDIA Geforce GT 1030 2GB GDDR5, 512 GB SSD, DVD±RW, USB 3, 802.11AC WiFi & Win 11 Prof #6911 : Electronics

Amazon.com: Dell Precision 3431 Desktop Computer Windows 11 Pro Intel Hexa Core i5 9500 up to 4.4GHz 16GB RAM 240GB SSD WiFi (Renewed) : Electronics

My last build was 8 years ago but have 2 ssd drives (256 & 500 GB) and really like my mini tower case that I could swap out also have a 240mm radiator style cpu cooler but it's 8 years old so probably shouldn't use it

Solution
Problem with mini tower cases is that they require low profile GPUs. These days, that means you're getting an underpowered, overpriced GPU.

That i5-6500 is a 7 year old CPU

What are the specs of your current computer? Assuming it's a pre-built brand/model perhaps.

Ouch 7 years old I thought that it was a newer system because of the ddr4 and i5 cpu
I built my last one in 2014 Was thinking about upgrading it until PSU died this morning
CPU AMD FX-6300 - FX-6000 Series Vishera 6-Core 3.5 GHz
Motherboard ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990FX + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s
Vido card MSI R7 260X 2GD5 OCV1 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0
RAM 116gb DDR3
SSD 256 & 500 gb
Windows 7 home premium
Was probably going to put whatever I got into my existing case it's almost a full tower 8"x18"x18" corsair liquid cooler for CPU with 240mm radiator

How about this?

It appears on newegg you can get a 16gb ddr 3200mhz ram kit as low as 40 bucks.

https://www.newegg.com/crucial-16gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820156265

On a 400 dollar budget this psu isn’t the best but I think wouldn’t blow up tomorrow.

https://www.newegg.com/evga-650-n1-100-n1-0650-l1-650w/p/N82E16817438106

So you should be at 300.

If you can stretch another 30 bucks you could get this.

Pull your old parts and sell for whatever you can get, reuse your old case if possible and upgrade that later I suppose. This setup wouldn’t be high end but compared to what you have now it would be amazing and you should be able to update the bios of a board like that and upgrade to a ryzen 5000 series later for more cpu performance, as well with a board likes that, 16gb is a good start but you should be able to update ram. The gpu would do some gaming at 1080p 60hz.

I did forget to add storage but if you have that left from the old pc you could reuse that. If you have the windows 7 let it may allow you to install windows 10 and update to windows 11.

Edit: if you really need to pinch some pennies you could grab this combo.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2557119064...1QoO_yZSxW&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Again you’d want to update the cpu at some point but I think the 2600 would allow an update to windows 11 and so could last longer because of that reason.

Don’t know much about aresgame. Apevia I haven’t heard good things about so out of those the EVGA is the best bet imo.

I ordered the 750w EVGA
Want to use the I5-12400 chip when I upgrade would 750 be more than enough wattage for when I add a video card, or should I see if I can find something else with higher wattage
