Hi all,

I want to upgrade my CPU from R7 3700x and the only option i can think available in AM4 socket is R7 5800x3d for gaming.

my present pc build is.
CPU- R7 3700x
GPU- RTX4090 zotac extreme airo
ram - 8gb 3200mhz X4
MB- asus tuf X570
psu- Mwe Gold 1050 V2 Atx 3.0

Note: I usually play in 4k tv regularly and 1440p monitor (144hz) frequently.

upgrading to am5 will costs more and i do planed it after 1.5 to 2 years from now. I need to know at 1440p and 4k what percent of performance, FPS i gain between r7 5800x3d and r7 7800x3d.

my targeted games are:
Ark ascended, Starcitizen, GTA 6,

FPS target- 60 to 144FPS in 4k

Just make sure you're on the latest BIOS version for your motherboard, then clear the CMOS, then drop in the latter CPU into your build. You would also net some more performance if you had a tight latencied dual channel DDR4-3600MHz ram kit to work in tandem with the board and processor.

IMHO, that comparison will be moot now if you're planning to migrate to AM5 in ~2 years time,. By then the AM5 platform will be matured, we'll see refinements with BIOS and higher frequency ram support injected into said AM5 platform. To also add, you've also mentioned how the cost of migrating to AM5 is going to be a hefty chunk of your wallet. The RTX5000 series would also come out in full swing.

if i go for changing ram, isn't it better to go for mew AM5 platform, only motherboard is left to change?

5700/5800s3D will hold at least next 2-3 years as it's holding just fine or even better in some cases than new 9000 non x3D. By that time 9000x3D will be out for AM5 platform, only that might prove better deal than 5800x3D.
DDR4 is now as cheap as it will ever be and all by itself it's speed doesn't contribute much to system as a whole. Since you already have 32 GB that's more than enough so no need to change for faster.
