Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me. For three days now, I am having problem logging into my Hotmail account. As soon as I entered my password, the screen will go white blank with a message saying something like "use another network to sign in, use a VPN..etc..", followed by a link to a Microsoft web page showing what to do. In the instruction, there is a big button for signing in to my Microsoft account. So I did that and I got the very same message. This is so frustrating. So, I try to goto Microsoft Support Chat, that, again requires me to sign into my Microsoft account. And yes, you guess it. The attempt to sign in to my Microsoft account results in the EXACTLY same message as mentioned before.
After searching a bit, I downloaded Microsoft Authenthicator App on my mobile and tried to sign in. And surprise surprise, the exact same message was displayed on my mobile phone!!!
Does this have something to do with me completely debloated my Win 11 Pro on my desktop? There is no Edge, no Microsoft account. To the best of my knowledge, I have removed all the telemetry software from my Win 11 Pro.
I remember the last time I logged into my Hotmail account, that was yesterday. The day before, I couldn't log in. Same message showed up. But after 8 or 10 hrs, i.e. yesterday morning. I logged in. But today when I tried to log in when I woke up. Nope. It was showing the same message. So, can anyone help? Or explained to me what is happening? I couldn't even get on to Microsoft Support to log a call or ask for help, because I couldn't log into my Microsoft account. Sigh.... I would be most grateful if anyone can help me. Many many thanks.
Regards,
Alex

Sounds like you got phished. Reset your password ASAP and look on MS Account Dashboard online for any unrecognized sign-ins, phone numbers emails and remove them. Remove 2FA and readd it.

Thank you very much for your quick response. Phished? But I never open any unrecognized emails.
Anyway, I cannot log in so how can I change my password?! What is 2FA?

"use another network to sign in, use a VPN..etc.."
Have you followed this suggestion? For example, try using VPN/mobile/Wifi on the mobile when signing in to see if you have a different behavior.

If you are using Windows hello to log into your Windows account, and if you ever succeed in logging into your MS account via the Windows PC, you should consider adding Windows hello (presumably an implementation of passkey) as a way to sign in. Maybe you'll have less of this problem on the PC in the future. This link may work:

https://account.live.com/proofs/manage/additional

or:

https://account.microsoft.com/security (Manage how I sign in > Add a new way to sign in or verify)

You should also check if your regular network is IPv6 enabled; it may be less likely to be blocked wholesale because of spams/attacks on Microsoft network. The following site will show your IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.

Thank you very much for your response.

I am actually using a VPN router. I am in China at the moment. The VPN router connects to a server somewhere in Taiwan in order for me to connect to the world so to speak. I have mentioned that I tried to use my mobile phone to log in to my Microsoft account but because it is connected via the same VPN router, maybe that's why I got the same message.

I have used Winhance to completely debloat my Win 11 Pro. I don't use my Microsoft account to log into Windows. So, I always checked my emails via Chrome. But this didn't work. I don't have Edge in my system. And yes, Windows Hello was removed by Winhance as well.

My VPN router only has IPv4 so IPv6 is out of question for me.

This seems to be a new procedure created by Microsoft as everything was working three days ago. I have no idea what's going on. I only use my PC for gaming and Youtubing (watching videos, not posting or streaming).

Ok, I have just used the 2nd Link that you have provided, and now I am in after some work.

Thank you very much for your help. Thank you, thank you...
