So, back in 2016 I bought a pc for about 900 euro, that will make it 2 years old today. I thought of buying a new pc for 2000 euro but then something popped up in my head, what if I upgrade the current one I have?

Current specs; i5-6400, gtx 750 ti, 8 gb ram and 550 GB HDD

I thought, what if I buy a new graphic card, 8gb stick of ram, and a 2-4tb HDD? + a new psu ofcourse, would my cpu still be good or not? is it good to upgrade straight from the current pc or not, and if I am to upgrade, please recommend a psu for an gtx 1070 or 1080 (Ill try to find a 1080 but if I can't Ill go with 1070. Thanks =)

The best potential?
I7-6700,7700, to 16GB of ram , new gpu line is coming out if playing 1080p 1060-6GB or 1070.
Ssd if you like and new hdd of 1-2TB because of games (i have 3hdds in my pc 2x500 1x1000 and almost full).

And I mostly agree with your end question.
But seems like i5-6400 is going to be good at 1080p.

As far as I know if you are going to stream/record get over to amd, if not, just gaming stick with what you have and upgrade it. Like you mentioned.

It really depends on what you'll be doing. If you're not gaming above 1080p 60hz, then a GPU/RAM/Storage upgrade will be fine for you. Anything from SeaSonic, EVGA, or the higher end Corsair Series will work just fine for a 1070/1080. I personally would recommend this unit from be quiet!: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/product/9PnG3C/be-quiet-power-supply-bn234

Also, you might want to consider upgrading to an SSD as well. It doesn't have to be massive, 120-240GB will be fine. It's just that windows runs SO much faster when it's installed on an SSD. Here's what I'd recommend: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/product/btDzK8/kingston-a400-240gb-25-solid-state-drive-sa400s37240g

Just for reference, what are the specs on that 2000 Euro PC, and what are you looking to do with your system?

I have some updates to come with, I've done researchers on my pc and it turns out that it's actaully garbage... from not knowing shit about pc components to this, it has an itx mini motherboard and the case is an itx mini case, which means I can't get an 1070 or 1080... which means I will have to purchase a new motherboard, new psu, new cpu etc. Here is my new build I managed to get with my 1000 euro budget: i3-8100 3,6 GHz 3,9 turbo, Palit GeForce GTX 1060 6GB Dual, asus prime h310 plus motherboard, corsair 16gb, seagate barracuda 2tb, fractal design integra M 450W

Thank you guys for trying to help me, but it turns out that my whole pc was garbage and I can't upgrade much unless I'm into the mini itx stuff which I'm not.

The specs would be high end i-7 processor, 1080 gtx ti dual, 16 gb ram, 6tb space with windows on it, some LED stuff, best cooler and psu there is and whatever I could think of
