Need help or advice. Old set up.

Dad gave me his old rig. Said only 2gigs of ram works.. Doesnt work with 4. He was messing aroudn with ocing

I HAVE TWO EXTRA GIGS OF RAM.

PRBLEMS WITH USB CONNECTORS ON MOBO.

SLI PROBELMS THERE N THERE


REFORMAT TWICE TO WINDOWS 7 N BACK TO WINDOWS VISTA
EVERYTHING IS UP TO DATE

STILL WONT READ MY IPOD OR PHONE. KEEP SAYING NEW HARDWARE IS FOUND N FAIL TO INSTALL

PRBLY MTOHERBOARD

ANYONE KNOWS GOOD SLI MOBO GOES NICELY WITH THE RAM N CPU

After you reformatted did you install the motherboard drivers? It sounds like you are missing the usb drivers.

I am sure it is the motherboard drivers some of them have not installed if you have the original CD or all the drivers in a directory can you specify a path to them. In XP you can go into device manager, hardware and see if there are devices with problems and solve them that way. I do not know how it works in Vista.

Uninstall the usb root hubs in the device manager. That will force the pc to reinstall them on restart.

See if there are any other conflicts in the device manager. You may need to manually install some drivers

You may also want to reinstall the video card drivers.

It all seems driver related. Also, you should be able to use more than 2GB of RAM on that board.

my phone works now. i reformat everything manually install each driver instead using windows update.

i got the 4 gigs to work i change some bios settings.

now the problem is the sli.
when i enable the sli.
Login vista. My screen flashes turns black for a bit.
if i run a game or xfire
it does that driver recovery icon n flashes my screen.

i disable sli. everything works so far.
but cards are really hot.
i put their fan speed at 80%
