I'm making my first gaming computer and I'm wondering if I have all of the right parts and such to make it work. Advice would be great.

Asus ROG Maximus Hero Motherboard
Asus Geforce GTX 970 GPU
Intel Core i7-6700k 8m Processor
Noctua NH-d14 120mm/140mm CPU Cooler
G.skill Ripjaw V Series 16gb DDR4 (x2 8gb)
EVGA 220-62-0750-XR 750w Power Supply
Samsung 850 EVO 2.5" 250gb SATA SSD

Some questions I have:
- Is the CPU Cooler enough for what I have?
- Do I have to overclock or can I keep it as its default state?
- Is this all compatible and do I need anything else parts wise?

To answer your questions:

1. The cooler is more than enough; it's arguably the best air cooler on the market.
2. Overclocking is completely optional and is unlikely to improve gaming frame rate. It will, however, improve productivity tasks such as video and photo editing.
3. Everything is compatible.

If you aren't interested in overclocking, then I'd recommend that you buy a standard i7 6700 and H170 motherboard. You also don't need a 750W PSU unless you plan to SLI the GTX 970. If you were planning to do this, then don't go for an H170 motherboard.

Thanks for the help. I did plan on SLI for two GTX 970s in the future. I went with that motherboard because it was asus and i saw good reviews. I was just looking for a dependable setup for gaming at the max.

OK, in that case, stick with the build you have; it's a very good one.

Super solid build, great job. Should be able to run any game on ultra easily with amazing FPS. You dont need to Overclock that i7, but like mentioned above for multitasking and overall quickness I dont see anything wrong with overclocking it to 4.5ghz maybe 5.0ghz.
