I've finally built my pc (first one in over a decade) and I'm trying to overclock the cpu. I modified a prodigy case to fit an matx board (green one) so I'm worried cooling might be an issue. I've decided to start at 4.2 ghz and go from there.

This is my first overclock and I have some concerns.

I found a basic guide and went with that.

am achieving 4.2 ghz and keeping temps around 60 Celsius. I see the changes via CPUZ but when I run the stress tests via cinebench 11.5 I see no gains. In fact I can't even achieve my best score. My open gl test did increase slightly. I'm not sure what to do and need some help or some suggestions. I will list my system below.

Gigabyte G1 Sniper M5
8gb crucial ballistix ram 1866 9-9-9-27 (but for some reason in the bios it has it at 9-9-9-24)
Intel 4th Generation i7 4770k 3.5ghz
GTX 780 Evga FTW editon 980mhz.

These are the only changes I have made.

Cpu Clock Ratio: 42
Uncore Ratio: 42
Extreme Memory Profile(X.M.P) Profile1
Dram Timing Selections: Quick
CPU VRIN Loadline Calibration: Medium
CPU Vcore: 1.18
DRAM Voltage: 1.500

Any ideas why I haven't seen a performance gain but I do see the new clock speed and any suggestion to see an increase in performance?

Thank You,
Mase

My concern is why I saw no performance gains bumping it from 3.5 to 4.2. Any idea why ?

Also are those the only 2 things I need to increase ?

Code:

I am doing everything via the bios. I feel like I am missing something. I am stressing the computer using Prime95 and it seems pretty stable so I have no idea why I haven't seen any performance gains using cinebench.

I tried to bump it to 4.4ghz at 1.25 voltage but it wasn't stable. It crashed after about 10 minutes using Prime 95

Pretty much lost at this point.

Thanks
