Need help overclocking

I have a xfx double d r9 270x and I want to know if there is a safe way to overclock without damaging the life of the gpu? Don't need to overclock it to maximum but just a bump in performance, and can this be done in amd overdrive?

If you OC the GPU right you will not limit the life.
