Need HELP!!! P35 vs 650i

Hello to all. I am a new on this forum and i need a little help to choose betwen 2 mobos! In 2 weeks i will by me a new PC and i don't know what kind of mobo to buy. I have to choose betwen a EVGA and a MSI mobo.
This is the 2 models:

or

I want to mention that i will buy an Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 CPU, 2x1 Gb Geil Ultra RAM, Sparkle Calibre P888 GeForce 8800GT or Zotac 8800GT AMP! (512Mb/256bit/DDR3) VC, WD 500Gb Sata2 HDD & Creative X-Fi 7.1 SC. The LCD i own already, is a LG 22" (L225WT-SF).

The p35 motherboards in general are hard not to recommend, but are of course, 1 PCIX16 slot.

The 650i can run in dual 8x or single 16x, which makes them slightly better for SLI, but with a 8800GT, the dual 8x will be a limiting factor if you ever buy a second one, I think.

If you have more options, the
GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L or GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R (raid version) are quite popular.

Regardless, I don't see why you'd want a 650i chipset over a p35 chipset given your graphics situation.

If SLI is in the future, I would select the 680i. (See 650i limits above)
If not going SLI, select a P35.

Please verify with the Vendor Pennryn Support with your exact model.

The 2 mobos is just an example for the question about the P35 vs 650i Ultra chipsets. I am opened for sugestion! I have aprox. 100Euro for the mobo, and i don't mind that the mobo doesn't have SLI (maybe 2x 16x bridge). Thanks for the quick response

With low or no chance of SLI, choose a P35 mobo (the one I mentioned is a common recommendation, especially for overclockers).

If you want serious SLI and gaming performance, choose 680i (SLI) or X38 (crossfire). P35 mobo will generally cost a lot less though, and should have support for Penryn, with a BIOS update.

Given what you've said, P35 is the correct choice. Find a board with the features and price you want.

I think the GA-P35-DS3L is perfect for you. The GA-P35-DS3R is better, go for it if you can. (It adds RAID and supports more disks.)

I was looking around a bit & find 4 mobos with the price range of 95-115 Euros.
ABIT IP35-P around 100 E, ASUS P5KC - 115 E, GiGABYTE GA-P35C-DS3R - 105 E, MSI P35 NEO2-FR - 95 E.
For a few days i'm going to search for review about this mobos to find the perfect & suitable MB for my future PC.

The first 3 get good reviews in general. I am using a GA-P35C-DS3R right now in fact.

The P5KC and GA-P35C-DS3R also have versions without the "C", which cost a bit less, overclock a bit better, and the only thing they don't have is support for DDR3. Also look at GA-P35-DS3P if you happen to have a FireWire camera or something like that.

Do you guys think that the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P would be good paired with a Q6600 and 8800GT? This is the setup I am currently considering building.

Yes. Just get a good PSU and a case with good cooling, you'll be all set.
