Hello all!

I'm looking to upgrade my studio with one of the new 3440x1440 monitors from LG, model number 34UM95. This will replace two 27" 1080P monitors I use now. The new monitor has a smaller footprint and better specs for what I'm doing and should work out nicely!

My system specs are as follows:
Asus sabertooth x79 mobo
32 Gigs g.skill 1600 ram
Intel i7 3930K hex core processor

Now, I currently use an Nvidia Quadro NVS450 workstation card. It has 4 displayport connections and it will drive all 4 at 2560x1600 @ 60hz. The reason I chose this workstation card was that I was having a lot of issues with my Radeon 6850 and that card was also really noisy. The NVS450 is a passive card and is dead silent which is much preferable in my studio environment during recordings. I would like to stay with Nvidia if possible, I've had much better luck with them than with the Radeon cards.

So, I need help finding a new card that will drive a 3440x1440 monitor, and that is silent (passive cooled) if possible. I'm not doing any gaming or anything, just audio editing, and the occasional youtube video and what not. It would be nice to have smooth HD video on that monitor though...

I don't understand why my video card can't do this resolution, I thought display port could go much higher than 2560x1600?

Does anyone have experience with this? Please help...thanks!

The 780 is WAYYY overkill for anything I need. I'd love to have another quadro, but I don't thin they have any other passively cooled ones...

I won't need to run 4 displays anymore, maybe just the 3440x1440 and one 1080p. I'm not doing any video editing, only AUDIO production, so the advanced 3d stuff also isn't necessary. I mean, if it can play a blu-ray video smoothly and drive two monitors (one at 3440x1440, one at 1920x1080), and is silent, that's really all I need.
