my birthday is coming up and i have nothing to get except a new monitor. My build is as follows:

gtx 1070
16 gb ddr4
i5 6600 (non overclockable)

I really want to move to 4k but have been hearing mixed opnions on if i can run it properly with my rig. Right now I have an LG ultrawide (2560x1080) which i like but really want more. Do you think I would notice 2560x1440 if i dont go with 4k? I also dont know if gsync is worth it... never had it before.

that being said I'm def looking for soemthing higher than 1080p and have a budget of 400-700ish. If i found the perfect monitor i could do a littler higher. I really like the acer prededtor but dont wantr to spend 1300 bucks on a monitor i cant fully use.

Any ideas on what i should get please show me some links! or let me know what you have and like!

Thanks!

The only thing holding your system back is your GTX1070. Its more of a 1440p card. You will probably need at least a 1080 for decent settings and 60fps @4k. 4K is great for video content, but to be honest its up to what you want in terms of gaming. 1440p at high to ultra settings, or 4k at medium settings. I had a 4k screen paired with a gtx1080. Although it looked sharper, I preferred playing games at 1440p ultra settings. To me 1440p with ultra settings looks more complete and cinematic than 4k med settings.

Have you considered 34" curved ultrawides at 1440p? It would be a good match for your system.
