Need help picking monitor

I've had my PC for almost 4 months and still have not upgraded from my old monitor (1080p 50hz Samsung )
Need help picking out a new monitor preferably under $500 and 1440p
I am running a GTX 1070 asus
Also, Not sure if this helps but my CPU is a intel i5 6700
If anyone has any suggestions please help me, thanks
