I am looking to build a high performance pfSense router.

It needs to support:
- Supports 150mbps down and 20mbps up Internet speeds
- about 10mbps up on the WAN interface all the time for my server
- multiple separate networks and vlans
- high speed gigabit LAN. Multiple people streaming HD movies on my home server, VOIP, Internet streaming on tvs.
- lower power usage and quiet (but doesn't sacrifice performance)

I'm not sure what kind of hardware I need to support this.

I have all ready look at this link, which gives some general suggestions. I just need a specific list of parts to order now. I already have have some spare parts (HDD, wifi card, cables).

Wish I could answer your question a little more accurately, but I am running Pfsense on a barebones network, 6 hosts on a 10mbps down 1 mbps up network with basically 24/7 streaming of movies and/or 24/7 torrenting.

Currently using 0% of my 447GB hard drive, 0% of my 4096 MB of swap, 31% of my 1898 RAM and 0% of my CPU (dual core AMD Athlon 64 x2 5600+).

Wish I could shed some more light, but hopefully this will help you estimate your required performance based on my network statistics. - Sub

Do you mean 0% HDD performance and 0% CPU utilization? I don't know how accurate those numbers...

Thanks for the response. I will be running my router in a more intense environment so I may need more hardware.
