[SOLVED] Need help picking parts for a high end gaming PC

Hello all,

I am going to build a high-end gaming PC. I want this computer to be able to run just about anything I throw at it. I haven't kept up with the latest parts and configurations so I was hoping you all could help me formulate a great setup. I would like to go intel with this build and keep it ATX. My budget is $2,500 without the graphics card; I'm going to use an older one for now. I also already have all the peripherals I'll need. Thank you for your time and help!

DDR5 won't be mainstream for another 3 - 4 years imo. It's latency sucks, none to be found atm and the few DDR5 sets that were available went for a ton of money.

As far as the i9 vs i7 ... the i7 uses a lot less power yet gets comparable numbers and does the job for less money,

The 12900K is pretty much just a waste of money for a gaming PC and DDR5 is all but impossible to find.

I forgot to mention If I wanted to do some video editing as well would that make the i9 more plausible? I just want to make certain I don't make a mistake haha.

The i7 12700K/KF sits in between the Ryzen 5900x and Ryzen 5950x for video editing/rendering. It's a beast of a cpu.

I am sorry I forgot to mention the monitor. Currently, it is a 1080p Alienware, but I'm looking to upgrade to an ultrawide or multimonitor setup. I don't know if I would do 4k or 1440p.

I was thinking of having a DDR5 compatible motherboard so that when it is mainstream I could switch to it if it was worth it. Do you think that is somewhat of an asinine notion?

By the time DDR5 becomes mainstream Intel Meteor Lake will be released. TBH DDR4 runs head to head with DDR5 ... mainly due to the crappy latency of DDR5 offered atm.

Some video editing don't really matter unless your making money from it.

EDIT the kind of money that time is costing you money for the average user it don't really mater if it takes 20 minutes to get the finished product or 25 minutes.

The games that don't yet support E-cores are old games such as those crappy Denovo games and how many old games do you know of that support more than 4 - 6 cores? Game developers and software developers are in the midst of catching up to Windows 11 and Intel's Alder Lake cpu's. It's either that or get left behind in the dust.
