Hi, I have a gtx 980 and a Samsung 980 500gb ssd, I’m about to order a z270 mobo, i7 6700k and 500w psu. I would like to know if I’m about to waste my money and if I could maybe get better value for my money. I’m buying second hand, I paid £200 for gpu and I’m about to buy the mobo for £70-90 and cpu £90-110

I would like to know if I’m about to waste my money
that all depends on what your intentions are.
this won't be much of a modern gaming system but for web browsing or media purposes it would be good.
could maybe get better value for my money.
the CPU is 6 generations old from 2015.
for ~$50-75 more you can get a new 11th or 12th gen Intel Core CPU that would blow this 6th gen out of the water.

but it would take ~$100 more for a new LGA1200 motherboard.

Ok what is a good 11th or 12 gen processor to pair with a gtx 980? I also have a 165hz monitor and I’m looking to upgrade the gpu in the future.
