Hi guys!

Putting together a system for my nephew.

BUDGET: Under $1500 (or under DKK 9,500, since we're in Denmark)

USAGE: He creates/edits/records music, which can be quite intense on the RAM due to virtual instruments. He games a bit as well, stuff like League of Legends, Overwatch, Valorant.
Not a hardcore gamer, but would be nice if the system could do decently also with some of the newer stuff at 1080p without getting too ambitious on the settings - aka some flexibility would be nice in case he decides to play something a bit more demanding.

WHERE/WHEN: Denmark. Find parts here:
https://www.pricerunner.dk/

MONITOR: Yes, the build must include a monitor, around 24-27" preferably. It doesn't have to be amazing, but some good colors so he can have a decent game playing/video watching experience.

OTHER:
If possible, he would also like the system to have inbuilt WiFi as well.

Here's what i found so far:
CPU
| AMD Ryzen 5 3600X / 3.8 GHz Processor | 1645,00,- DKK
Motherboard | MSI X470 GAMING PRO MAX | 869,00,- DKK
Memory | Corsair Vengeance LPX - DDR4 - 16 GB | 497,00,- DKK
Video Card | Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 580 | 1416,00,- DKK
Case | Cooler Master MasterBox Pro 5 RGB | 693,00,- DKK
Power Supply | CORSAIR CX-M Series CX450M | 492,00,- DKK
SSD | Samsung 970 EVO Plus | 800,00,- DKK
Storage | Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM008 - Harddisk - 2 TB | 441,00,- DKK
Screen | ???? | ????
WiFi-card | ???? | ???? (Not sure if reeeeaaaally needed)
Total:
6853,00,- DKK

Barring any changes (that i am guessing you will have), that leaves around 2500,- DKK for a screen.

Is the build proper? I am a tad worried if the PSU is strong enough, and i am wondering if i could be getting more juice for my money on some of the other parts.

All and any help is appreciated!

Thanks errrrrbody!

Decent list. Not any glaring issues. I think a 550W PSU would be a bit more comfortable.

Thanks man!

Makes sense with the PSU, i'll go for that.

What is the idea behind the extra fans? Are the stock fans in the case not sufficient?

Pay attention to how many fans actually come with the case you choose. The PS15 only comes with a single 120mm fan (this is pretty common in sub-$75 cases).

TBH, with only a 1650 Super, a single front intake fan is enough. I just added the other for aesthetic balance.

The only thing I would say is that if you're going to be recording music, you want as little background noise as possible, so you don't want to add too many fans, even if they're for aesthetic reasons. If anything go the opposite direction and try to make it as fanless as possible. It can be done, but the less fans for this type of rig, and the quieter they are, the better.

Makes sense with the fans - and that was actually also one of the reasons i thought of a bigger case, to have more air between components and less heat buildup. Is there any reason other than aesthaetics to go for a smaller case?

Being realistic, there are very few mATX cases (aside from poorly designed ones) that are small enough to cause heat buildup like you're talking. That's more of a concern in mITX cases. Your major heat producing components are the CPU and GPU, and those are in the same general vicinity because of the mobo, so the case doesn't affect that much.

Usually the best way to reduce fan noise is to make sure that they are secured tightly to the case as to reduce vibration. You can also purchase optional sound proofing equipment, but that would vary depending on the level of background noise that you have in your studio.

Lots of VST's i would go for 2x16 GB of RAM.
It makes a world of difference.
Absolutely :) I'm gonna start him out with 2x8, and then we can always expand with another set if he needs it. He's just getting started with the music production so i don't think he'll be working with a huge amount of VSTs immediately.
