Hello friends

My system spec is as follows:

Motherboard:

Model: Gigabyte AX370-Gaming K3
Socket: Socket AM4 (1331)
North Bridge: AMD Ryzen SOC rev 00
South Bridge: AMD X370 rev 51
BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. F31 (05/06/2019)

Memory:

Total Size: 16384 MB
Type: Dual Channel (128 bit) DDR4-SDRAM
Frequency: 1499.1 MHz (DDR4-2998) - Ratio 3:45
Timings: 16-20-20-38-58-1 (tCAS-tRCD-tRP-tRAS-tRC-tCR)
Slot #1 Module: Corsair 8192 MB (DDR4-2137) - XMP 2.0 - P/N: CMK8GX4M1D3000C16
Slot #2 Module: Corsair 8192 MB (DDR4-2137) - XMP 2.0 - P/N: CMK8GX4M1D3000C16

Processor:

CPU Name: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X Six-Core Processor
Threading: 1 CPU - 6 Core - 12 Threads
Frequency: 3650.49 MHz (36.5 * 100.01 MHz) - Uncore: 1499.7 MHz

I am planning to add more RAM to the board. Is it possible to add 1 single 16 GB module to one of the free slots? Please note, I am not very conversant with this 'dual channel' configuration, but as I use a number of multimedia software, a higher clock speed/bus speed of RAM is necessary for me. I have gone through the MB manual which states that equal-sized modules are necessary for dual channel configuration- I am not really sure what exactly it means and whether this would make it impossible to upgrade the RAM the way I stated above.

Could experienced members here please tell me whether it is possible to add 1 RAM module of size 16GB now to take up the total RAM to 32GB without compromising RAM as well as system performance?

Thank you.

Possible yes, will it even work can't say nobody can answer that.

Your best bet is to sell your memory and buy a 32GB kit (2X 16GB) in one package, not individual sticks.
Thank you for your reply, but I am not sure whether selling is an option in the present situation.

Is it possible to use another single 16GB module with the 2x8GB modules without compromising the performance?

Hi

The following RAM is available:
Corsair CMK16GX4M1D3000C16 Desktop Ram Vengeance Lpx Series - 16GB (16GBx1) DDR4 3000MHz Black

Will this RAM be compatible with my system? There is no 2x16GB kit available at this moment, so I can buy 2 of these RAM modules for the two still empty slots. I hope that would make it work in dual-channel mode.

Thank again.
