I am having some issues and I really need to re-install windows 7 (64) Professional. I am using a PC that I built myself last August. Since then I have moved and I can not locate my backup DVD's. I did however save a recovery image on a USB drive and did manage to find my Recovery DVD disc. So I switched my boot to the BLURAY drive and attempted to enter the recovery console. Well Windows keeps failing to load my recovery DVD, or is having issues with the USB image. I keep getting an error similar to...

"unable to load windows files, this may be caused by a dvd drive going bad, or removing a usb drive"

So I pretty much gave up on that and decided to take drastic measures and just re-install windows 7. Turns out I lost my official DVD, in the move. I would not have thrown it away. So I discovered that digital river website and decided I would just download a copy. I had no DVD's handy, and I am still not certain if my BD Drive is crapping out, or if that old system image on my USB was bad. Anyways, to make a long story short since it is late at night, and I have no other options at the minute I erased and formatted that USB to NTFS thinking I could just boot that downloaded image from digital river and just make a new recover image later. Unfortunately that digital river website keeps saying something like "your key has already been pre-installed, please contact the vendor of your system".

So I am totally lost at this point. I built my system, so I don't know what to do. I don't want to have to purchase windows 7 pro again. I do have a legitimate copy that I purchased myself. I am not sure what my options are here. I really just need a repair disc.

Solution
1. Download a new (legitimate) .iso here:
http://getintopc.com/softwares/operating-systems/windows-7-professional-free-download-iso-32-bit-64-bit/

2. Download rufus here:
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CB4QFjAA&url=https%3A%2F%2Frufus.akeo.ie%2F&ei=SwfZVP6SHYTSoAT9xYKACw&usg=AFQjCNGeuqrM--4SkP8QoxA61Q4KwAEIHQ&bvm=bv.85464276,d.cGU&cad=rja

3. Find and insert a compatible (preferably blank) USB flash drive (usually 4GB - 8GB work the best,) into your computer.

4. Follow this guide how to turn that USB into a bootable drive: http://bootableusb.net/install-windows-ubuntu-usb-drive-using-rufus/
