Need help reinstalling windows 7

Hi.


I had recently damaged my hardrive on my HP Probook 4530s. I had a MSI notebook that I had stopped using and took the hard drive out of that one and put it in my HP. After going through startup repair several times and using the "reinstall windows" option it did not recognize some of my devices such as the internet and would not connect to the internet through wireless or through an Ethernet cable to download the drivers. I called support and got recovery disks which I received recently. However, my Probook is not recognizing them.


Any suggestions?

You did select the cd/DVD drive as the boot device, correct?

I went into the BIOS and made sure the boot order was CD/Dvd as first and the HDD was second. When I went into the boot devices it did not give me that option

from the hardrive, however since working on it today I can't get past start up. unless I go into the bios area it keeps going to the start up error.

yeah,almost never works taking the hard drive from one machine and transplanting it,along with the os,on another machine.you will have to do a clean install of the operating system.

Aldan, he has a set of recovery disks he says aren't working either.

and if those recovery disks are from the old computer they wont work either. you guys arent getting what the op is trying to do here.

Its possible. Did you use the MSI restore disks on the probook Dennis Henkels?

No they are HP. I went into the bios to set for boot from cd-rom. But that option is unavailable to me.

Try selecting the boot manually at the post screen. I think esc brings up the menu. If not, one of the function keys. It should say. Sometimes it makes press a key.

Thanks for the help everyone. My optical drove was listed as Net book upgrade bay. That didn't work so I tried using an external cd-rom. The is is now downloading. Thanks for all the help.
