Need help remembering an old PS1 or 2 game

It was a very old game, from when i was around maybe 9-11 in 2005 ish and even then it may have been old?
It was a male protagonist, young man, with a sword going round in a village, much like in legend of zelda you could swing at bushes to get coins, but i'm fairly certain it wasn't LoZ. At some point, you get on a boat and get some sort of cutscene and i think it sinks? I never got to thorougly play it through and that makes me a little sad, because i remember it quite vividly.
It was, well. Not Mideval but back in time set? Please help!

Are you referring to Fable? There have been sequels to it, mind you.

No, that's not it, i see it's for Xbox and pc, i'm certain it was a playstation game.. Graphics were worse..? It's bugging me that i can't remember much more. I think you could enter houses in this tiny village and talk to people too before moving on to this ship?
