Hi, I replaced the card shown in the specs given below because I couldn't update it. I replaced it with this one Palit G210 1GB DDR3 Dual-Link DVI VGA HDMI PCI-E Graphics Card.
When I restarted my pc, well that was the problem, it didn't restart. It went into startup repair and couldn't be repaired by startup repair. (Just forget the exact phrase).
Anyway, the only way I could get back into the pc was to go into safe mode and remove the driver and everything else associated, before the pc would start normally again.
I tried this with 2 different G210 cards as I was told my pc would take it and they were usually a fairly reliable card. The first one a repair place told me was faulty, but the exact same thing has happened with a brand new card. It doesn't matter whether the driver comes from the cd, from NVidia or from Windows update, the same thing happens, so I can't say whether it's the driver, or some of the other components that now come along on the Geforce Experience cd that my pc maybe can't handle.
Suffice to say it doesn't work and I think it's time I tried a different make of card.

I'm not up to speed on what works with what in hardware, so perhaps someone could have a look at my specs please and suggest a different make of card that would work with what I've got. I don't game and only need the card for pictures and videos.

What you are telling are the properties of integrated graphic card that comes with the motherboard. These integrated graphic card are pretty basic and physx, cuda, OpenGL are included in the external graphic card. I suggest go to this site (http://www.guru3d.com/content-page/guru3d-driver-sweeper.html) and follow the steps to completely uninstall every display driver related to Nvidia and after doing all that if you have a external graphic card put it in then install the drivers after a restart and see if you can get it to work. Otherwise nice replacement for geforce 210 would be hd 5450 it is cheap and performs slightly better than 210.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

Now I've looked at the motherboard I know that my graphics are actually part of my Intel chip which is working off my PCIE port according to the properties of the advanced settings on my screen resolution. On Intel site it said one could check their graphics card by right-clicking on the desktop and then clicking graphics. All I have is screen resolution, so I used that. This is what I got. It is named as VgaSave. It says it is on PCI Express Root Port 2771.

It looks like this is an MS service and can be stopped/changed/disabled etc. If so, does that mean I can stop/disable the graphics on the PCIE port via the chip and install a stand-alone graphics card on this port as I have been trying to do?

Also, I ran a check on my current graphics and was immediately asked to update the Intel opencl. I saw from the programme testing the graphics that according to it, opencl, opengl, cuda, physX and directcompute were all unchecked. On looking these up, most of them were not around when my present chip was made, so if I were to install a Geforce card I assume I would have to install all these drivers first?

Hope my questions don't seem too over the top, but quite new to this sort of thing!!
Thanks for the help.
