Need Help Saving Everything By Default To My D Drive

Currently I have an SSD and a mechanical hard drive in my system. I want to put windows and a few games on the SSD, and then have everything else default to my mechanical drive. Some installs ask which drive to go on but some just default to the C drive. Please help.

Click start menu button. Go to settings, then click System. Click on storage then you can select where everything is stored...

I did that but still whenever I click properties on an application, it says it's stored under my C drive...
