Need help selecting cpu that will last for a few years.

I recently saw the specs of watch dogs at ultra details and I have to say I am a bit shocked. Seeing how most games are now recommending an i7 I would like to get one. But, I don't know which one to get. I'm thinking of getting the i7 4770k. I just don't know if it will last for a few years on ultra. I'm not going to be purchasing any more components for awhile so I would certainly like it to last. Any help will be greatly appreciated. If you recommend a different cpu please explain to me why it'd be a better choice. Thanks.

4770k is the best out of intel now . . it will last more then a couple of years but not sure cause technology is changing rapidly

A Xeon 1230v3 with a B85 pro4 would be my choice. It will give you more money to put towards an awesome GPU.

I already have a gtx 780 ti so I just need to get a cpu that will be enough to last for a couple years

A 1230 v3 will easily last that long. It is an i7 without IGP.

Integrated graphics processor. Something you don't need for a gaming rig, since you will be using a dedicated graphics card.

i 2nd that choice for logainofhades. i have been gaming on xeons for a while now. i typically run into less issues with them vs. whatever consumer flavor intel wants to throw out. opterons were a good choice back in the s939 days, but i dont know about them now.

Will they work on the same motherboard? I have an Asus maximus vi hero.

Yes, they will. 1230 v3 will work in that board flawlessly. Quite an expensive board choice.

Yeah it is pretty expensive. I wanted to put together a rig that'll be able to run ultra for a few years.
