Need help setting up custom PC.

I bought and put together a gaming rig November. I made sure all my parts were compatible and took a while deciding what I wanted. I even was lucky to snag a GTX 1080 TI before they reached 1000 bucks. Here is what my system has:

AMD Ryzen 7 1700x 8 core proccessor
MSI x370 XPower Gaming Titanium
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16gb (2x8) DDR4 DRAM 266 MHz
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Gaming OC 11GB Graphics
Corsair RM750x 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Power Supply
Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 High Airflow ATX Cube Case
Corsair ML120 Pro LED white fans
Samsung 940ex m.2 SSD

I am fairly sure I should have no issue with doing anything on my system. I encount random drops in frames. (without the frame rate dropping) I mean it will stutter. I would like to be able to stream onto twitch without having any problems. If there is any setting I may have overlooked, any tests that will help point me in the correct direction, or if I need to upgrade RAM or anything, please help and help me out.

I am not overclocked on anything and will overclock if that is the reason I am not getting the performance I want. Thanks!

You need to post a video of the game or games you're having the problem with. Run MSI Afterburner in the background and make sure you have onscreen display showing for things like CPU and GPU usage, FPS counter, GPU and CPU temps, etc.

You can use ShadowPlay to record it, just make sure you use the manual record mode vs Instant Replay, because SP is having problems lately with corrupt IR clips, which makes them freeze and pixelate on playback.

The reason I ask this is it's impossible to tell whether what you're experiencing is normal or not. Some games are just poorly optimized. There are some games, even older ones, that will not yield more than about 45 FPS average on a 1080 Ti @ 4k res, Far Cry 4 being one of them.

This includes random FPS dips in some games that only show via a line FPS graph, so it would help if you also make a video where you switch to desktop to show Afterburner's line graph of FPS. It retains recent history of FPS monitoring and should show the dips precisely.

Some games have problems like this, especially Far Cry 5. The FPS dips happen anytime inventory, location, etc assets are saved to player progress. Just retrieving arrows for instance. I got the game after the April update, but word is that update is what caused it.

if the games you're playing are popular AAA titles, you can often get a quick idea of how your FPS and smoothness of gameplay compares to others just via a YouTube search. Key words should be the name of the game, and your CPU and GPU model numbers. Example, "Far Cry 5, 1700X, 1080 Ti". Go to the YouTube site and submit the search in it's searchbox.

Note that while most games are compatible with Afterburner, some aren't.
