Need help setting up tv as second monitor

So I have a Sylvania television and a Lenovo z400 laptop wih intel hd 4000. I would like to use the television to display a second desktop but it doesn't fit properly. What can I do?

you need to change to extended desktop and set the resolution to native for the tv, also make sure the tv is set to just display the input and not change the ratio.

Thank you for the response!! okay I tried this and by native I presume that is the same as recommended on my personalization window. It is also set to extended. The problem continues as I am unable to get about an inch on every side. This makes the taskbar nearly unusable. I am guessing my problem may be with the TV. There are no HDMI settings window but there is a pc setting on the TV but it can only adjust when connected via VGA. Any more tips would be greatly appreciated.

you want to go into the intel graphics control panel and change the overscan region to zero for hdmi.
