The sweet spot is 8GB to 16GB of RAM for gaming, and most people use 8GB. To answer your question, yes, it does help.

It will not help you if you only have 3GB of RAM, unless your video card has 2 or more GB of video RAM on it. 32 bit versions of Windows can see 4GB of memory, total.

Depending upon which version of Windows 64GB operating system you get, you will generally be able to use 16GB of memory or more. I am not a fan of Windows 10 and still use Windows 7, a great operating system. The following is a table that shows what each version can utilize:
