Hi all, I'm stuck in a weird situation with my computer that I can't seem to get to the bottom of and I'm hoping someone out there has the answer to whats happening.
I recently purchased two of each item listed below:
- Gigabyte B660 Aorus Elite DDR4 LGA 1700 ATX Motherboard
- Gigabyte GeForce 4070 Ti WindForce OC 12G GraphicsCard
- Intel Core i7 13700KF 16 Core LGA 1700 CPU Processor
One lot of these parts has gone into my computer and the other has gone into my friends.
Firstly, once the new parts had been installed we had to firmware flash our motherboards to support the new CPUs. We then started to run into problems with temperatures when running max settings on The Outlast Trials with High RTX on. We would spike to 95-100 degrees and some points and it would then throttle our systems back down to about 80.
After looking online we had found that this is a common occurence with this model of CPU and even though we both have all in one liquid coolers It was recommend to undervolt our CPU in the bios by 0.15v (supposedly this lowers temps by about 15 degrees and you notice barely any performance drop).
After a couple days everything seemed fine in most games but then I started to notice that I had quite alot less FPS in games than my friends almost identical system.
The main difference in components we have is that he has 3600mhz DDR4 ram and I have 3200mhz DDR4 which can cause a little bit less FPS but not as much as we were seeing, in one game we would notice 30-40 fps difference when standing in the exact same location with the exact same settings in Escape from tarkov.
After a couple days again I started to notice that I would get these random freezes inside simple to run games such as csgo where the game would hang frozen for about 2 seconds then come back to life, this wouldn't happen all the time but definitely not something that should happen with these specs.
Today I started to get a bit sick of the issue and can't seem to understand why his system is performing better in most games than mine was so I decided to do a Userbenchmark to see how our computers compare (Dont bully me if this is a poor benchmark site lol)
Here are the benchmarks that we got back:
My system (The one running poorly): https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/62227127
My friends system (The one running A ok): https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/62228302
From these tests you can see there is some a significant difference in the CPU performance while we are both running at a 0.15v undervolt (Btw if I turn my systems undervolt off I hit 123% but my temperatures go through the roof).
Hopefully someone is able to help here as I'm a bit lost on what to do, Is it something to do with my powersupply and the cables? I have an 850w corsair powersupply so I can't see what would be causing these problems.
Thank youuuu.
Matt
