Good day! I'm looking to upgrade my pc in the next couple of months (specifically mobo, processor and ram) but I've been having difficulties deciding which parts to pick and which parts go good with each other. As of the moment my pc specs are as follows: gtx 1080, i7 4790, 8gb ram, 600w psu. I'm aware that other than the gpu, pretty much all my other parts are kinda trash, which is why I'm looking to upgrade. My target is to upgrade by august at the latest, and I would have a budget of maybe $500-600 (hoping not to end up spending that much) I use my pc for gaming pretty much 100% of the time. I only really care about performance, and i really dont care if my pc looks like a garbage can, as long as i get frames lol. With that being said, i was hoping to get suggestions on whether I should stretch my budget to go for something like an i9 or if that would just be overkill. Any suggestions and help would be much appreciated!

For Intel, the 10th gen i7-10700K is the same as the i9-9900K. But the 10th gen i7 is $400, so that's not going to work well with your $600 budget. They also don't come with an included cooler. So you'll have to buy your own.

Most people will recommend you into an AMD Ryzen 3700X or something. Such as:
PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor ($271.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: Gigabyte B550M AORUS PRO Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard ($129.99 @ B&H)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory ($45.00 @ Amazon)
Total: $446.98
