Need help to reinstall win on laptop please...

I need some help with reinstalling win 2000 on a laptop. In the past when I have needed to wipe an installation, I have just pulled the drive and put it into another of my machines to clean the hard drive to start all over and proceed that way. That being said, I have never done one with a laptop. I have a laptop that an aunt asked me to wipe. She does not remember the login password. Please help me out.

When you install 2000 at some point it asks you whether you want to Repair or Install 2000. If you chose install, it asks you where and if you want to format before the install. Chose format. You of course wipe everything out that is on the drive you're formating so back anything up you want to keep
